MUDVAYNE Singer Talks About Fan-Generated Album
October 22, 2007Gary Graff of Billboard.com reports: MUDVAYNE frontman Chad Gray says the group is "getting really close" to figuring out what songs are going to appear on its fan-generated album "By the People, For the People", due November 27 via Epic.
"We're just kind of sitting back and letting it go," says Gray, who, along with MUDVAYNE guitarist Greb Tribbett, is on the road with their side band, HELLYEAH. "There's a couple of things I'm excited for — but I don't want to give them away. The arrangements are different. There's a couple things with completely different choruses. I think our fans are really gonna love this, man."
The concept of "By the People..." allows MUDVAYNE fans to choose their favorite songs from the group's catalog; the band will then dig into its vaults for specific versions of those tracks, considering demos, live renditions and alternate tracks.
"We have tons and tons of (hard) drives and archived stuff," Gray explains. "We were like, 'We should get this to the people. They'd probably love this.' We just want to give back something to the people that have supported us for so long and allow them to be more a part of MUDVAYNE."
